Coulrophobia is an "informal phobia" that is not recognized by either ICD-10 or DSM-5. Despite this, the fear of clowns is well documented, with one study of 250 children finding that every child disliked clown decorations and many of the older ones feared them. Certain circuses have also offered coulrophobia treatments, the results of which have not been researched.
