Claustrophobia

The Fear of Small, Enclosed Spaces

Phobic Properties

Claustrophobia is believed to be made up of two components: The fear of suffocation and the fear of restriction. Both components need to be dealt with if treatment is to be successful.

Connection to Virtual Reality

Subjects with claustrophobia have been cured using VR and the effect of their treatment remains after at least 3 months, but no study was found that compared VR to other methods of treatment. Claustrophobia has also been temporarily treated using distractive methods in a virtual reality.
